New In Version 6

Simplified UI

The Tasks view:

All you need to edit a task in one easy place.

The Tasks view puts all the task details including actions and an editable task team (who sees the task) all on the one handy page.

Easier to assign actions to others, (Click on the responsible person, and choose). It shows in their ToDo list.

Tasks view also enables setting action priority and type (which previously had to be done on a separate tab).

A new “more” section of the Task shows Task Code, URL, Progress Traffic lights and allows you to make a task a Milestone or Isolated Task.

Creating Dependencies and Action Shortcuts is easier, more clearly explained and intuitive than ever with new drag and drop to create features shown on the Tasks page.

Documents, Advanced Resources, Time Entries, and links can be navigated to from the Tasks view underneath the task details.

History:

The same Task was confusingly named and edited differently in multiple places. Actions were also edited differently in different places.

(The Tasks page is the successor to the popular task “Plan” view, which showed most but not all task details, and didn’t allow changing the person responsible for the task on that page). (Removing the extra “Task Details” page, action pages and top menu item “Plan” removes confusion which occurred when people did not realise a “Plan” and a “Task” were the same thing, or didn’t realise that actions on the actions tab of a task were the same as the actions on the “Plan” view.).

Faster Task navigation

New task tree on the Tasks view allows switch tasks faster (compared to previous versions task plan view), since the new tree allows navigating to tasks without waiting to reload the tree. Focusing on tasks is also faster.

More dynamic Task tree

Add tasks faster.

Complete tasks faster.

Newly added tasks, changes to the task name and status icons show on the task tree dynamically so you can work faster adding and completing tasks, while seeing the impact on the big picture.
For those who like the right click tree context menu, Full users can still access the Task Tree context menu on the tree on the Progress and Reports views.

ToDo, Simplified

ToDo features like Custom Filters and Reports used to be accessible only from a separate “Advanced ToDo” page, now they are available on the ToDo page.

Others' ToDo Lists shows in the “More” menu. (It used to be called “People”).

Progress back on top

The Progress Gannt chart view is available in one click now it is back on the top menu. (In previous version it was in Tools dropdown menu).

Other Changes and fixes

Drag and drop now works in most browsers

Session timeout issues have been resolved

Support for newer versions of browsers: e.g. Internet Explorer 9, Mozilla Firefox 5, Safari 5, Chrome 13

Task tree on the Tasks view allows collapsing of a parent whilst a sub-task is still selected: the parent is then selected

Some support for legacy browsers

Basic users can now also access some advanced features that previously only full users could, such as:

Task details: progress traffic lights, isolated and milestone tasks
Task URL page
Add a sub-task
Add a Draft task
Fully functional task tree on the Tasks and ToDo views:
Focus, Hide, arrows, plus Task drop down menu on the ToDo tree
