Planning can be one of the most difficult workplace tasks, but it doesn’t have to be.  TASKey has developed a simple Plan-on-a-Page template that makes planning easy.

The Plan-on-a-Page template has been used by tens of thousands of people in over 175 countries.   The feedback has been that even people with no management training can create a workable plan in around 10 minutes.

Most people already have some form of a plan in their head.  The Plan-on-a-Page makes it easy to put this plan into a form that is easy for other people to understand and implement.

The key part of the Plan-on-a-Page is a list of To Do’s (sometimes called a workflow).  In addition to the list of To Do’s, the Plan-on-a-Page template includes the plan context (task dates, goal, assumptions, risks, objectives), the person responsible for each To Do and other team members who need to assist, task stakeholders and resources.  This additional information makes the plan understandable and more likely to be implemented as intended.

For larger plans, a simple task tree can be employed to show how a number of Plans-on-a-Page tasks fit together.  The key is that each Plan-on-a-Page is a complete stand-alone task that each stakeholder can understand, own and implement.
