Canberra, September 7, 2005
An innovative Canberra company developing unique software to manage project collaboration securely over the internet and intranet has been awarded $323,099 under the Australian Government’s Commercial Ready program.
Federal Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane today announced Phillip-based TASKey as one of 11 companies awarded Commercial Ready funding under the flagship innovation program.
Nationally, 16 innovation projects were awarded funding totalling more than $11.3 million under the Commercial Ready and Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) programs.
Mr Macfarlane said TASKey’s person-to-person (P2P) software would allow managers to monitor and coordinate activity across multiple organisations, with each team member receiving information about their contributions, constraints, deadlines and other team members’ progress.
"P2P will also provide distributed, near real-time information to help contributors in different locations and time zones to see what they need to do and rapidly report their progress," Mr Macfarlane said.
Mr Macfarlane said since 1991 TASKey had successfully developed software tools that allow companies, teams and individuals to define and manage dynamic workflows against specific activities to meet strategic goals.
"TASKey is a great example of a local IT company making an impact on the Australian and overseas market – and the Australian Government is right behind it," Mr Macfarlane said.
"Through the Commercial Ready program we are helping clever companies like TASKey turn bright ideas into marketable products that will boost the nation’s jobs, exports and international competitiveness."
Commercial Ready is the Federal Government’s ‘one-stop-shop’ business innovation program, providing $200 million a year to support R&D, proof-of-concept and early-stage commercialisation activities.
